Why Natural Wine Belongs at the Table—Especially with the Mediterranean Diet
In a world full of ultra-processed everything, natural wine is a refreshing return to simplicity. Natural wine is wine in its purest form—grapes, and not much else—and it just so happens to pair perfectly with one of the healthiest, most flavor-forward ways of eating: the Mediterranean diet. At Anyday, an all-day tapas eatery where fresh seafood, seasonal vegetables, and vibrant herbs take center stage, natural wine fits right in.
What Is Natural Wine, Anyway?
Think of natural wine as wine with nothing to hide. It’s made from organically or biodynamically farmed grapes, fermented with wild yeasts, and crafted without additives, stabilizers, or heavy filtering. That means no lab-created yeasts, no color correctors, no sulfite bombs—just grapes
Natural wine is:
Unfiltered & unrefined (which gives it that hazy, raw look)
Low-intervention (minimal human tampering)
Often lower in sulfites (great for anyone sensitive to them)
Alive in the glass—flavor can evolve and surprise you
Why Is It Hard to Find Natural Wines?
Most natural wines are made by small, independent producers who farm organically or biodynamically. They don’t mass-produce—often it’s just a few barrels at a time. That means once it's gone... it’s really gone. Because natural wines have a niche distribution - you are more likely to find them at a natural wine bar, indie wine store, or chef-driven restaurant.
What Are the Benefits of Natural Wines?
Natural wine is made with little to no added chemicals or processing agents. Unlike conventional wines, which can legally contain over 70 additives, natural wines are free usually low-sulfite or sulfite-free, vegan free and free of added sugar. Lower sulfites and fewer additives may make it easier on your body, and make the days of the “wine hangover” a thing of the past.
Our Favorite Natural Wines – Available at Anyday
Sons of Wine 'Bisous Bisous' VDF
French for “kisses kisses,” this pét-nat is all love, all sparkle, all vibe. Made in Alsace from native grapes, ‘Bisous Bisous’ is lightly fizzy, super alive, and bursting with wild strawberry, rhubarb, and a touch of brioche. Unfiltered and unfussy, it’s a celebration in a bottle.
Perfect for: any excuse to toast something (or nothing).
Echeverria 'No Es Pituko' Orange
Bright, bold, and beautifully cloudy, this skin-contact Chardonnay from Chile lives up to its name—“No Es Pituko” means “it ain’t fancy” in Chilean slang. But don’t be fooled—inside the bottle is a juicy, textured orange wine with notes of peach, citrus peel, and spice, all balanced by a gentle grip and zippy acidity. Funky in all the right ways, and wildly food-friendly.
Pairs beautifully with: spiced seafood, roasted vegetables, anything with tahini or citrus.
Laurence et Rémi Dufaitre 'Super Remi'
This is Beaujolais with a cape on. Light, juicy, and absolutely crushable, ‘Super Remi’ is a natural Gamay that bursts with red berry energy, a hint of spice, and silky minerality. It’s playful but precise—like cherry cola for grown-ups, with a little wild edge.
We serve it chilled because it’s just better that way—bright, refreshing, and perfect alongside Mediterranean flavors, seafood, or just sunshine.
Pairs with: grilled octopus, roasted peppers, charcuterie, good times.
Château Lestignac ‘Michel Michel’ – France
This is pét-nat with a pulse. ‘Michel Michel’ is a natural sparkling wine from Château Lestignac that fizzes with bright citrus, crisp orchard fruit, and just enough wild edge to keep things interesting. It’s light, funky, and totally alive—like a disco ball for your palate.
We serve it chilled because that’s when it shines brightest—vibrant, zippy, and the perfect match for bold bites, sunny days, and unrushed conversations.
Pairs with: grilled octopus with truffle orzo, pan con tomate, shrimp in tomato-paprika sauce, muhammara + baba ghanoush, and your next girls night out.
Natural wine is not just a drink—it’s a philosophy. One that values ecology, craftsmanship, and letting the grape—and its environment—speak for itself.
